A reflex camera is a camera that allows the photographer to look through the lens directly and capture an image exactly as they see it.
A rangefinder camera contains a focusing mechanism that allows the photographer to measure the distance between the camera and the subject(s), providing the photographs with sharp focus.
A diaphragm is a series of blades in the lens that controls the amount of light that enters the camera, with the exception of the aperture.
This is my favorite photography, done by my friend Mary Claire Roman, a professional photographer! I love the colors and the focus points she uses in the image.
The ISO is the sensitivity of the film, it is a setting that is controlled on the camera. The ISO deals with finding the perfect exposure for every image captured.
Photo by Jim Goldberg, American b. 1953. After reviewing many of his photos, I would say that the invisible lines that are in his portraits mainly fall directly across the center of every horizontal image.
Photo I took on the top of the G campus at John Cabot.
Picture I took of a sunset in San Clemente, CA, over this past summer.
Robert Capa:
Born October 22, 1913 in Budapest, originally wanted to be a writer, but found work in photography then fell in love with the art.
During his career he covered five different wars including the Spanish Civil War, the Second Sino-Japanese War, World War II, the 1948 Arab-Israeli War, and the First Indochina War. His documentation of World War II took place in London, North Africa, Italy, the Battle of Normandy, and the liberation of Paris.
He focused on action photos to demonstrate the violence of war.
He died in 1954
In this particular image, Capa uses a slower shutter speed in order to give the portrait a blurred effect and is taken with a normal lens. The portrait also has a high aperture and a small depth of field because it is mainly focused on the soldier carrying the back of the line.
